Vanadium Sesquioxide

For V₂O₃ thin films grown by pulsed-laser deposition (PLD) on different planes of sapphire, the metal-insulator transition near 150 K is suppressed for some substrate orientations, most likely because of epitaxial strains that stabilize the metallic phase of V₂O₃ at all temperatures.
