Plasmonic Particles

For arrays of gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) coated with vanadium dioxide (VO₂), the Au particle-plasmon resonance blue-shifts in the metallic phase of VO₂ with respect to the semiconducting phase because of the smaller dielectric permittivity of the former. The combined effects of polarization and VO₂ phase transition allow for plasmon resonance shifts up to 200 nm.
